WILLIAM NAKAMURA
William Nakamura is currently DMA student working in the Los Angeles Area. He has performed with ensembles up and down the West Coast, as well as with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. His two brass quintets, Quintet Musica and Westwood Brass, have created and performed free or suggested donation concerts for the benefit of local communities, in addition to work such as Westwood Brass’ long standing relationship with the San Luis Obispo Master Chorale. Called ‘one of the most memorable tuba students to ever come through UCLA’ by renowned international trumpet soloist Jens Lindemann, William has gained a reputation as a virtuosic soloist as well as an ardent supporter of the arts.
He has studied with Brent Dutton, Ron Bishop, Dennis Nulty, Aubrey Foard, Norm Pearson, Doug Tornquist, and Jim Self.
