Trio Strano (as described by Stephen himself)....

"Well, a violist, a double-reed player, and a low-brass player walk into a bar… “What a strange trio!”, exclaimed the bartender, or, if this had been in the Little Italy section of Claremont, “Trio Strano”, and that’s how we got our name. But seriously, one of the wonderful things about teaching at Pomona College is the opportunity to partner with the world-class musicians who teach here. When I found the Nelhýbel Trio online I immediately thought of oboist Francisco Castillo and violist Cindy Fogg.We performed it at a concert in Claremont this past March along with new music Francisco and I were inspired to write for us. Today we are performing those new pieces plus a world premiere of a piece for the trio and electronics by Pomona composer Tom Flaherty."

Friday, May 13 10:00-10:30am - Choral Hall

Trio Strano will perform a chamber recital including a

world premiere for trio and electronics.
