BEN ORDAZ

Benjamin Ordaz is an active music teacher, tuba performer, and scholar. He is currently Lecturer of Tuba & Euphonium at Northern Arizona University (NAU), where he performs with the Elden Brass Quintet and is the director/conductor of university's tuba-euphonium ensemble "NAUTEE" . He is both Associate Music Director and a principal member of the Salt River Brass Band, in Mesa, AZ. He has performed with the Iceland Symphony, Utah Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, New Mexico Symphony, Santa Fe Symphony, and the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra. Previous to his appointment to NAU, he was the band director at Cheyenne and Cotton Boll Elementaries in Peoria (AZ) Unified School District, and a founding member of El Sistema after-school orchestral education at American Preparatory Academy in West Valley City, Utah.

This Lecture Recital will include tips on how to source good pieces, arrange them effectively and with integrity, and where they should fit in a curriculum. Ben will discuss and perform works of Brahms and Bach on both tuba and euphonium.
