JEFFREY MALECKI

Dr. Jeffrey Malecki grew up in Sterling Heights, Michigan. He holds degrees in music education and conducting from Central Michigan University, VanderCook College, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While at UNLV, Dr. Malecki conducted the renowned Wind Orchestra, Las Vegas Youth Wind Orchestra, and Community Band, which earned him opportunities to conduct in Ireland and Italy. After teaching ensembles, music education, and brass at St. Xavier University in Chicago, Dr. Malecki joined the University of San Diego Music Department in 2015, founding the department’s first formal band program and designing the music education degree.

As a brass musician, Dr. Malecki has performed with the Orcestra Sinfonica de Trujillo (Peru), Cambridge Brass Band (England), Salt River Brass and Arizona Winds (Arizona), and can be heard playing solo euphonium on the album “Concertos for Brass: Music of Thomas Bough.” He has played solo recitals and co-lead University low brass ensembles at several previous SWRTEC, MWRTEC, and ITEC conferences.
