Sergeant Alex Showers is from Canton Ohio, where he started playing trumpet at the age of 11. Several months later, the band director rectified that mistake and he’s been playing euphonium ever since.  In 2013 he attended the University of Akron, where he studied with Chris Blaha, Tucker Jolly, Jim Albrecht, and Andrew Larson. He enlisted in 2017 and finished his degree while serving. Prior to his assignment to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band he was stationed at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego with Marine Band San Diego.
